National Building Museum Ghost Tours

You’re in a room with angry spirits, mysteries and lies. Can you find the truth in time? Congressional Cemetery ‘Soul Strolls’

More than 65, 000 souls lie at rest in Congressional Cemetery. Soul Strolls, the Cemetery’s annual twilight tours, explore the unique stories of buried individuals through guided tours and costumed interpreters. Experience the history of this hallowed ground exactly the way it should be experienced in October – in twilight and darkness, happening upon vignettes and individuals under the guidance of one of the “Dozen Decent Docents.”
The cemetery is typically open only from dawn to dusk and this special event allows the public night-time access to get the full Halloween experience in the twilight. Comfortable shoes are encouraged, as are flashlights. Tours will not stay on the paths, so be ready for uneven terrain.

Frankenstein at CHAW

The newest installment of We Happy Few’s Classics-in-Action series explores Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein in an hour-long performance using her original text, live action, puppets, and a custom cocktail to bring to life the Frankenstein that you’ve always wanted to know.

Fright Fest is back for select days between Sept. 22 and Oct. 28 at Six Flags America. It’s a spooky time of year as zombies and ghouls take over the park. Enjoy shows, rides and haunted mazes. There are activities for the whole family throughout the day, but come back for a truly frightening evening of fun after the sun goes down.
Fright Fest offers a wide variety of places to get your scare on including several haunted houses and scare zones located throughout the park. The stuff of nightmares lurks around every corner as the dark of night washes over the park. The ghouls are set free for their daily hunting rituals.

is planning some spooky fun at the park on Friday, Oct. 19 for the first-ever Films by the Fountain double feature!
The littlest neighbors will enjoy ‘Curious George’s Halloween Boofest’ from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. (starting right after sundown), followed by a screening of the classic ‘Ghostbusters’ at 7:30 p.m., better suited for big kids and the young-at-heart.
Bring neighbors, a picnic, and a blanket or chairs, and come in some Halloween fun under the stars!

Maury Elementary School Fall Festival

This year’s activities at Maury Elementary School’s Fall Festival include food, a live DJ, haunted house, arts and crafts, face painting, carnival games, and the ever-popular cake walk! New for this year will be a photo booth and a bracelet that gets the wearer access to unlimited fun.

The ride leaves from the Velo Cafe within District Hardware and Bike, riding to Vigilante Coffee in Hyattsville, and ends with beers. 22 miles round trip!
Since it is October folks are encouraged to dress up in their best bicycle-safe costume.

This Halloween, National Nightmares is offering only two timeslots for the premier Capitol Hill tour ‘Hill of Haunts’. Often referred to as ‘the Most Haunted Building in America,’ the Capitol building, the Library of Congress and the surrounding neighborhood are full of spooks –and ghosts.
