Here’s A List of July 4th Weekend Events

Be sure not to miss the District’s line up of free, family-friendly events this 4th of July.

Parades

Celebrate the Fourth of July with the Capitol Hill 4th Parade. The family-friendly event, which starts at 8th and I St SE, will feature a variety of different marching groups and floats. The event starts at 10 a.m.

Residents are also invited to walk with DC Mayor Muriel Bowser (D) in the parade. You can here. You can to walk with a group in the parade here.

The National Independence Day Parade will also take place Monday at 11:45 a.m. The event will take place on Constitution Ave between 7th and 17th Streets. You can to walk in the parade here, and you can sign up to volunteer here.

Events for Kids

The Sylvan Theater Family Activity Area, located on the southeast grounds of the monument, will feature activities about monument’s history for families. Kids can also complete a Independence Day Junior Ranger booklet full of activities and earn their Junior Ranger badge. The area will be open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. July 4.

Live Music

A Capitol Fourth, hosted by Mickey Guyton, will feature performances from artists including Andy Grammar, Rachel Platten, Darren Criss and many more as well as the National Symphony Orchestra.

The concert will take place on the west lawn of the U.S. Capitol and is free and open to the public and no tickets or advanced registration is needed. The concert will begin at 8 p.m. on Monday, July 4, 2022.

Fireworks

The National Park Service (NPS) will host the annual Independence Day firework celebration on the National Mall again this year. The fireworks are slated to begin at 9:09 p.m. and will be launched from both sides of the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool.
