The 42nd Capitol Hill Classic 10K, 3K and kids’ Fun Run takes place Sunday, May 21. The races all begin in front of Peabody Elementary, located on Stanton Park. The 10K begins at 8:30 a.m.; the 3K at its conclusion (likely around 10:30 a.m.), and the fun run once that race is done, projected to be around 11 a.m.
Registration in the 10K costs $45 through the start of race week, after which it will go up to $50. Registration in the 3K is $38 through the start of race week, when it goes up to $40. Fun run registration is always $12.
The three road race events directly benefit the Capitol Hill Cluster School, a DC Public School serving over 1,000 students from PreK through middle school at three campuses – Peabody (425 C St. NE), Watkins (420 12th St. NE) and Stuart Hobson Middle School (410 E St. NE).
All race proceeds go directly to students, teachers and education at the Cluster School and help to bridge the gap between DS-allocated budget and the money needed to fund field trips, buy art supplies, classroom projects, fund the school gardens, provide professional development for our teachers and fund teachers’ requests.
The Classic is DC’s oldest and largest 10K, and is the only race run exclusively on the streets of Capitol Hill. It’s also a true community event that is conducted with neighborhood from participants, sponsors and volunteers. You are encouraged to sign up for a race, to volunteer, or come on out to your friends and neighbors.
