Detectives from Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) Criminal Investigations Division announce the arrest of two suspects in an armed robbery in Southwest.
On Feb. 4 at 6:48 p.m., the victim was walking through the Wharf near the 600 block of Maine Avenue SW when two suspects, brandishing a rifle and a handgun, approached him. The suspects removed property from the victim’s pockets and the fled in a white SUV.
On Monday, March 25, 2024 a 22-year-old man and a 21-year-old man, both of Southwest, were arrested and charged with Armed Robbery.
A rifle was recovered during one suspect’s arrest and he was additionally charged with Possession of an Uned Firearm.
He was also charged with Attempted Armed Robbery in reference to an offense in the Seventh District that took place at 3:10 p.m. the following afternoon. In that case the victim was using an ATM in the 2000 block of Martin Luther King Jr Avenue SE.
Two suspects, one armed with a handgun, approached the victim and ordered them not to move. The victim fled from the suspects before they took any property. The suspects fled the scene in a white SUV.
The latter case remains under investigation.
MPD currently offers a reward of up to $10,000 to anyone who provides information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for a violent crime committed in the District of Columbia.
