Truck Touch at RFK June 1

Get up close and personal with some of the machines that make the District move on Saturday, June 1. RFK Stadium, Lot 8, (2400 East Capitol Street, SE – enter off of Independence Avenue, SE) will transform into a hub of innovation and fun from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. for the District of Columbia’s annual “Truck Touch” event.

It’s an action-packed day filled with activities catering to all ages. Nearly 30 distinct vehicles from various DC government departments will be available for kids to yes, touch and even climb into. Explore the machinery behind street cleaning, traffic management, waste disposal, snow removal, emergency services and even mobile healthcare.

Brought to you by the DC Department of Public Works (DPW), this family-friendly event gives kids the chance to explore these massive machines, while adults get a rare opportunity to operate some of the equipment.

Meanwhile, the DC Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR) rolls out a series of engaging activities, including tennis, basketball,and fitness challenges. In collaboration with the DC Free Summer Meals Program, complimentary packed lunches will be available for attendees under 18.

GRAND PRIX!

The 12th annual DC Electric Vehicle Grand Prix (DC EVGP) will be held on a purpose-built race track from 9:00 AM to 3:30 PM alongside Touch Truck. Experience the thrill as students showcase their mastery over electric vehicles and energy efficiency, navigating a lively track in their custom-built creations. Cheer on high school students from DC, Maryland and Virginia as they strategize and race their hand-built electric vehicles!

Families with children are welcome to get an up-and-close look at the cars while the students work on ing the technical inspection and as they prepare to race. Practice and qualifying begin at 10 a.m. Race heats begin at 12:30 p.m.
