A man is dead after he was shot near the corner of 16th Street and Kentucky Avenue SE around 9:45 a.m. Monday morning, Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) officers said.
DC Fire Emergency Medical Services (DC FEMS) arrived at the scene, just west of Congressional Cemetery and Northwest of Barney Circle. They performed life-sustaining measures. The man was transferred to hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
Police have not yet identified the victim.
Neighbors said they heard a half a dozen shots and the squeal of tires. A lookout was issued for a Black male in a red jacket who was last seen in a black Mercedes sedan.

Armed Robbery in Southwest
Police are looking for suspects and a vehicle involved in an armed robbery in Southwest.

On Monday, Oct.21, 2024, around 1:55 a.m., three suspects approached a victim in the 600 block of Maine Avenue SEW. The victim says they pulled out a gun, demanded his stuff, and then fled the scene.
The suspects and the suspects’ vehicle were captured by nearby surveillance cameras and can be seen in the photos above.

Suspect Sought in Navy Yard Assault

Police want help identifying and finding a suspect involved in an assault during a theft in the Navy Yard area.
Around 1:28 p.m. Sunday, Oct 20, a bystander confronted aman who was attempting to steal items from a business on the 900 block of New Jersey Avenue SE. The suspect assaulted the victim and fled with stolen merchandise. The victim was treated on scene.
The suspect was captured by a surveillance cameras and can be seen in the photo above.
