Four students on their way to school were robbed at gunpoint by a group of unknown males early Wednesday morning.
The students were on their way to classes at Eastern Senior High School (1700 E. Capitol St. NE). As they approached the school through an alley on the adjacent block, a man exited a silver car parked at the end of the alley, holding a rifle as he did so. He demaned a coat and iPhone from one of the students. When one of the other students “made an unspecificed remark” to the man, the man hit the student in the face with his rifle.
All four victims gave the man their possessions, including designer sneakers, a Moose Knuckle Coat and an iPhone 14.
The three suspects left in the car, headed east on East Capitol.
The report names three subject, but a lookout was issued the same morning for four Black males, armed with an AR15, a rifle and a handgun. They were last seen in a in dark-colored vehicle and a silver Kia Sorento.
The students reported the incident to the school as soon as they arrived. In a letter to families, Principal Stephen Miller said that Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) was ed and DC Fire Emergency Medical Services (DC FEMS).
The student received treatment for non-life threatening injuries.
In the letter, Miller said DS police will give special attention to the area throughout the week, and that the school will work to identify and implement additional safety measures for the trip to and from campus.
In addition, Miller recommended that students travel in a group that arrives by 8:15 a.m., given that instruction begins at 9 a.m.; keep valuables out of sight; walk without distractions such as iphones or headphones; and avoid low-visibility routes.
Counsellors are available for the victims and affected of the school community, Miller added.

MPD currently offers a reward of up to $1,000 to anyone who provides information that leads to the arrest and indictment of the person or persons responsible for a crime committed in the District of Columbia.
