The Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) invites neighbors to officers and community leaders to celebrate the 40th Annual National Night Out (NNO) on Tuesday, August 1, starting at 5 p.m.
The national event is intended to introduce communities to local law enforcement. It also highlights crime prevention, neighborhood watch programs and other safety-related issues.
The First District event takes place Tuesday, Aug. 1, 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm in Garfield Park (210 S. Carolina Ave. SE), but the city wide kick off event also near by! The Fifth District hosts the cornerstone celebration from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Rosedale Recreation Center (1701 Gales Ave. NE)
MPD has scheduled events across all seven police districts during the late afternoon and evening hours. Activities include community cookouts, agency resources, agency vehicles, musical performances (including from the Potomac Gardens All-Star Drum Line), free food, treats and more.
